Damask Wedding Invitations

Damask for Wedding Invitations

by Haley on February 10, 2010

Damask wedding invitations can be very elegant and beautiful wedding invitations. If you don’t know what damask is, it is a two color pattern that is somewhat floral but more focused on the leaves. Many people like black and white damask wedding invitations because the shapes of the damask can lend a softer feel to the black and white contrast while still providing the punch that the combination of black and white has. Adding a small amount of an accent color, perhaps a stripe of pink, can easily set the damask pattern off into a more contemporary style. Of course damask can also be used in many other colors. One might even prefer a more subtle approach including varying shades of one color, such as two slightly different shades of purple.

Using a pattern like damask can also provide many options. Hidden shapes can be added into the pattern that may help to tell a story. The pattern can also be deconstructed to create a beautiful monogram. Using the damask pattern to fully cover the back of the invitation can also add a dramatic flare to the invitation set. The pattern can easily be worked into the décor of the wedding with printed place cards and favor printed favor labels. Damask can be used on the edges of the invitations and RSVP cards to create something of a lace effect as well.

Damask wedding invites are versatile in that they speak to tradition but also have a modern twist to them which also convey what young couples are looking for in wedding invitations today. When used carefully, damask is elegant and contemporary all at the same time; it makes a beautiful wedding theme that is interesting and easy to work with.
