It is your wedding and ultimately whatever decision you make will be the right one. However, there may be some ways to integrate the colors of your wedding in with your invitations without them taking over. You could have small touches of the flower colors. May be even just picking one color to use would be helpful, instead of picking them all and making it too busy. I think it also depends on what type of paper goods you plan on having at the wedding. If you want place cards in brown and cream that is something that will impact the colors in the decor of the wedding. The brown should go well with the colors of the flowers. May be if you are not completely sold on brown you could consider doing a dark version of one of the flower colors. Perhaps a plum or a deep red would be nice. Brown and cream could work nicely though if you make sure to consider the brown in some way throughout the wedding. I would make sure to stay consistent and not use black whenever it comes to type in your wedding.

You make good points about the invitations setting the tone for the day. I do have a question about this though. I'm going for a traditional, elegant wedding. It will be outdoors, and have flowers in purple, orange, and rose. Do the invitations have to include the colors of the flowers? I like the idea of brown and cream filigree for my invitations because I think that's traditional looking, but I wasn't sure if that would work. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. :)

Actually, the invitations on this site are not of my design. They are simply place holders for now : ) As soon as I am out of school I plan on turning this website into a place where you can order wedding invitations.

I definitely agree. Wedding invitations should be a priority and should not be taken lightly. The hardest challenge my wife and I had was determining how many people we wanted to invite to our wedding. It may be seem like an easy task, but believe it or not, once it's given some thought, it's very time consuming.

I very nice write up or you can say a step by step guide to make your wedding a perfect one. It shows your interest in graphic designing very clearly and it doesn't seem that you are not a professional wedding planner. well you can be one. But as far as invitations are concerned i guess you are pretty good at it which i could make out with the designs on your blog and this guide to the invitations. Nice work done.
